Named “Best Classical Conductor” by the Nashville Scene, Kelly Corcoran is a passionate advocate for the robust place of classical music in our lives and the lives of future generations. Kelly is Artistic Director of Intersection, a contemporary music ensemble dedicated to building social connection through creativity, partnership and new music. Kelly is a frequent guest conductor with orchestras around the world having worked with The Cleveland Orchestra, the Munich Symphony Orchestra, Detroit Symphony and more.
Kelly actively works in the field of arts and health, building upon her decades of experience as an arts leader and her MPH in health behavior. Kelly is a Social Scientist at the Vanderbilt Music Cognition Lab, where she also contributes to the Musicality Genomics Consortium as the Co-Chair of the Ethics WG and a member of the steering committee. Kelly is passionate about Social Prescribing and contributes to Social Prescribing USA, and also is interested in integrating musicality into precision health as recently explored on a poster at NeuroMusic in Helsinki, Finland.
A note from Kelly:
I like making things. Ever since I was a kid this desire would emerge in different arenas from the short stories I'd write, the events I would create, the cookie company I dreamed up, or the pottery I'd make with my hands. I believe it is essential to maintain space for creative exploration in one's life. As I strive to maintain this in my present life, I'm excited to share with you what emerges! Stay tuned!
